Steve Aoki remixed Mike Posner’s ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’: Listen

10 years after its original release, Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza got a Steve Aoki remix, which turned out to be incredibly energetic

As part of a remix pack, Steve Aoki’s cover of the famous I Took A Pill In Ibiza track has been released. Mike Posner’s legendary track, which at the time remained a long time without success, and then suddenly propelled Mike to global stardom.

Mike Posner was only 26 when he wrote I Took A Pill In Ibiza. The American singer originally wrote the song for acoustic guitar and released it on streaming platforms in April 2015. It didn’t score a big hit at the time until Norwegian duo Seeb remixed it. Island Records released the remix on May 6, 2016, and it quickly hit the top of the charts. It currently stands at 2 billion streams on Spotify alone and has been certified multi-platinum in terms of awards. It’s no wonder that an electronic music remix got Mike to this position and established him as a global star. Now, American Steven Hiroyuki Aoki, aka Steve Aoki, has taken a look at the original track for a remix. Fun fact: a few weeks ago, Steve Aoki invited Mike to perform their newly released track live together.

Steve Aoki released his remix on his label, Dim Mak Records, on 13 June. Along with it, it was released in a full remix pack called The Forest Remix Pack. It’s an EP created specifically for Electric Forest, featuring Mike Posner’s performance, and includes collaborations with producers such as Laidback Luke and Bonnie X Clyde. Sound-wise, the producer aimed it at the festivals, which is no surprise as the summer season is in full swing. And it’s certainly a big hit, with Mike Posner’s legendary vocals and lyrics being known almost all over the world.
