Kontakt gets smoother with its new update
Native Instruments has updated Kontakt to v8.5.0. The update focuses on making the industry-standard sampler smoother and more reliable for producers and sound designers.
With this release, Kontakt now automatically scrolls to the instrument you’re editing in Default View. This saves time by eliminating unnecessary clicks when working with large libraries or complex setups. The update also addresses several issues such as crashes when loading recently saved Banks, forgetting samples in Instruments, or drag‑and‑drop errors on macOS. With the update, these have all been resolved. Another fix stops Kontakt from going back to the Plugin Page from Browser View during content navigation. This is a helpful tweak for those browsing presets inside a DAW.
A range of AU‑specific fixes are included as well. For instance, Kontakt no longer focuses back to the plugin page in Digital Performer. Plus, artwork for third‑party Instruments now displays correctly, without glitches in the Navigator panel. On the developer side, Kontakt’s Builder tools were enhanced. The updated KUI (Komplete UI) framework now supports version 1.2. This brings new developer options like modifier control allowing more flexible UI layouts. Builders can also use enum types as map keys and reduce compile time when scripting new instruments.
Earlier updates in the series added valuable features have made Kontakt richer for sound creators. But version 8.5.0 focuses on stability and workflow improvement, smoothing out rough edges.
