The second weekend of Tomorrowland 2025 didn’t escape global tensions, as the planned performance by Israeli DJ Skazi sparked controversy ahead of the festival. Facing growing unrest and polarized reactions, Skazi ultimately canceled his appearance himself, according to the festival.
“We’re glad he made that decision,” Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told the press. “There was a moment where real unrest began. We received a flood of angry emails, and we didn’t want our own team members to start backing out from working with us.”
Although no staff members actually pulled out, the festival continued to receive backlash even after the cancellation. “Before the announcement, it was mostly pro-Palestinian people expressing outrage. After the cancellation, we started getting angry emails from pro-Israeli voices,” she explained.
Organizers reaffirmed their intent to keep Tomorrowland a neutral and safe space, free from political friction. “We don’t want the festival to become a political event,” Wilmsen said. “Everyone should feel safe and respected. Everyone should be able to have fun together and raise a glass.”
According to the team on the ground, that message of unity ultimately prevailed. “We saw people waving both Palestinian and Israeli flags together—enjoying the festival side by side.”
