Home Interviews Åírös talks main influences, latest single ‘Ooo!’ and more: Interview

Opening up on a vast array of subjects, versatile DJ and record producer Åírös provides us with an interview that should not go amiss.

Taking the dance industry by storm, one fire production at the time, Åírös is the personification of an act that has dedicated his life into mastering his craft at the utmost of perfection. Renowned for his unique fusion of musical elements, this underground producer turned commercial pop leaves no doubt to the imagination, and as his stays true to his rave roots, fans alike are in for an absolute treat at any given moment in time. An old soul at heart, and with influences of the past in mind, we could not be any happier to be joined by Åírös himself, as he talks main inspirations and influences, the origin of his style of play, collaborating with acts from various musical backgrounds, the release of his latest single ‘Ooo!,’ future and plans and so much more.

Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you provide us with an insight on the main inspirations/influences that led to your chosen career pathway in music?

“Music got me interested early on because the sounds were so obtuse and way out, the way artists and producers at the time were able to control these signals through modern computers, I found to be cool. As every young music producer, of course, inspired by Tiësto, Armin, ATB and the ever growing dance culture.”

Renowned for unique approach towards music production, we would like to know the origin of your style of play and how your sound has evolved over time?

“The dynamic shift has been from House, Pop, and now Dance Pop. Very eclectic, really pulling, and twisting intriguing sounds from every genera, even the genera with gray spaces. Very methodological yet experimental. My origins arrive from the Dallas Rave Scene but also at lot of it is seeing and listening to all the great influences that came before you, learning from those trial and errors.”

Crafting music that resonates directly with the various preferences of your audience, could you talk us through the significance behind a versatile nature, and how easy or not it may be to maintain this approach?

“We have to expect a great writer, or creator, or influencer to have a vast relationship to their crowd. Speak to many people about many things and be correct on these topics. When crafting I am producing yes but I also have my co writers like LUCOA to make sure we are sending out the right vibe and signal. We speak to wide themes so a large audience may listen. One person is sometimes able to do that, but with a cowriter I think this versatility amplifies.”

Collaborating with a vast array of acts from different musical backgrounds, we would like to know the impact this has had on your production style, as well as any valuable lessons you have learned along the way?

“Everyone I have worked with has taught me something. From learning how to take riffs that are less fun to exciting, it is essential to work with people through whatever means. There truly are great artists all around. There are few that are very very good, find them. As far as some of the learnings, for sure I am able to do wild out of this world things in Ableton Live now after working with DNJER.”

Releasing your music under the most well-renowned of record labels, could you talk us through the overall impact behind such recognition, and how it has helped enhance your name within the dance scene?

“What’s was nice about signing with The Soul Music was their reach, they had corporate connections that as an indie artist I never would have crossed. What’s nice about labels is you get into a new audiences and markets previously untouched.”

Blessing fans alike with the release of your latest single, ‘Ooo!,’ we would like to know the main thought process behind this production, as well as the overall message this track has set out to convey?

“It’s a clean production, long riffs, Summa pianos style and groovy bass line. I was making really heavy tech house and Summer was coming up and we all talk about the tracks of the Summer, figured I’d make a golden track to fit the vibe. The female vocal ‘Ooo!’ encapsulates the excitement before the drop leading to a not overproduced but more laidback style.”

With summer season now in full flow, could you provide us with an insight on what the future holds for Åírös, always in terms of new music, upcoming collaborations and live performances?

“Three new cool songs to come, ‘Way That You Are,’ ‘Gasoline’ and ‘Thang.’ Big tours and performances are on the table and coming soon, and by the time this article hits the press we should have a couple of these new releases out.”

Remarkable in every sense of the word, we will be keeping a close eye on Åírös and all his future projects within the dance scene, but for the time being, you can stay fully up to date by following him on Instagram, SoundCloud and Spotify!
