Apple Music Now Lets Users Import Playlists From Spotify and Other Platforms

Apple Music now allows users to import playlists from Spotify and other streaming platforms. While not entirely new—the feature first rolled out earlier this year in Australia and New Zealand—it is now available in seven more countries: Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Until now, playlist transfers were only possible through third-party apps and web services. Apple Music has partnered with SongShift to bring the feature directly into its ecosystem.

With this tool, you can transfer songs, albums, and playlists from other services into Apple Music. However, there are some limitations: you can only move playlists you’ve created yourself—platform-generated or editorial playlists won’t transfer.

How to transfer playlists to Apple Music

On iPhone or iPad:

• Go to Settings > Apps > Music
• Tap Transfer Music from Other Music Services
• Choose a supported service and sign in
• Select the playlists or music you want to transfer
• Tap Add to Library

On Android:

• Open the Apple Music app
• Tap the More button, then Settings
• Tap Transfer Music from Other Music Services
• Sign in to the supported service
• Choose what you want to transfer
• Tap Add to Library

Once Apple Music matches your music to its catalog, you’ll see one of two results:

• Transfer Complete: Your music was successfully matched and added to your library.
• Some Music Needs Review: Apple couldn’t find exact matches for some tracks but suggests alternatives. You can review these, pick the right version, and save them.

This move makes switching from Spotify—or any other platform—much smoother, giving Apple Music a big edge in the streaming wars.
