Noisia sample pack Vol.3 now available on Splice
Dutch trio Noisia have dropped the third installment of their sample pack series, this time drawing from years of archived history. Released through their VISION label on Splice, the collection is a blend of sound sources. They have used a variety of sounds ranging from software experimentation with Reaktor, Albino, and Cubase, to hardware synths like the Access Virus TI.
Through an Instagram post, they explained that some of the samples have been created in unconventional ways, such as putting rolling paper over PC speakers or processing sounds through visualisation software like Photosounder. The others are the result of a long process of revisiting and reworking ideas forgotten years ago, dug out from over two decades’ worth of hard drives.
Their process, as with their music, has evolved from the hardware configurations to contemporary software. Starting with gear-based setups, they moved into software like Kontakt and Serum, and later adopting DAWs like Ableton Live.
This pack doesn’t sound like a usual genre-based sample pack. It’s more of a snapshot of Noisia sound, butt in parts. These parts, pieced together, reveal the unseen moments of music-making: ideas that weren’t always completed, but are still worth preserving. Or atleast, getting a release as part of a sample pack.
