A sold-out Rüfüs Du Sol concert at the Rose Bowl turned violent after a video captured a man repeatedly punching a woman in the stands. On Thursday, the Pasadena Police Department confirmed the arrest of 23-year-old Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala in Hawthorne on suspicion of assault.

Police said they received a call about the incident around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Footage, first shared by Festive Owl, showed the suspect striking a woman as bystanders screamed and tried to pull him away. Investigators reported that Zavala attacked three victims after becoming enraged when a drink spilled in the seating area.

Moreover, tips from the public combined with the viral video helped police identify Zavala, and as a result, authorities submitted the case to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

The woman in the video described the attack in a statement posted online. “This man punched me in the face, knocking me out and causing significant bleeding, while he continued attacking our group,” she wrote. In an update, she confirmed the suspect had been identified and added that she plans to pursue both criminal and civil action.

Rüfüs Du Sol addressed the incident on social media, writing that they were heartbroken by the violence and urging fans with information to assist police. However, the night also drew criticism from attendees who described overcrowding, long entry lines, and an atmosphere that felt unsafe.
