Serato has released the public beta for Serato DJ Pro 4.0, introducing several long-awaited features for improving library management for DJs. While this update is not especially focused on performance features or visual overhauls, it brings workflow upgrades designed to help DJs organize and prepare their sets better.

One of the most noticeable changes is the enhanced crate system. DJs can now search, filter, and manage crates with greater efficiency. Right-click functionality has also been introduced. This allows users to pin favorite crates, view track contents quickly, and access tools easily. Crates can also be color-coded, adding a visual layer of navigation for faster set preparation. More additions include real-time crate statistics that show total duration, track count, and file size at the bottom of the library window. Track ratings can now include emojis, allowing DJs to personalize their libraries in new ways.

Serato has also improved background analysis, which now continues while DJ hardware is connected. This is a practical shift for users who previously needed to disconnect devices in order to analyze files. Another notable feature is that the crates are now more hybrid. These now allow both, locally stored and streaming tracks, to exist in the same list to offer more flexibility for building sets.

Overall, Serato DJ Pro 4.0 is a quality upgrade for DJs who rely heavily on their digital libraries. The beta is now available to the public, with a full release expected after community testing and feedback.
