Spotify introduces new Mix feature for smoother transitions

To use it, you need to open a playlist and tap “Mix” from the toolbar. From there, users can select Auto for quick blending or dive into custom mode and pick transition styles like Fade or Rise. The feature also lets users adjust volume, EQ, and effect curves, helping tracks flow naturally from one to the next. For added precision, Spotify displays the waveforms, BPM, and musical key of each track so users can use transitions effectively. Plus, playlists can be saved, shared, or even edited collaboratively by multiple Premium users.

This update draws Spotify closer to Apple Music’s AutoMix but with here users have creative control instead of just relying on automated transitions. The feature is especially useful for dance genres like house and techno but has the potential to make any playlist smoother.

With nearly 9 billion playlists already created on Spotify, Mix gives listeners a new level of personalization while smoothing the gap between songs.
