Home News Burning Man suspected homicide victim has been identified

At this year’s edition of Burning Man, a then-unnamed attendee was discovered “lying in a pool of blood”, and has now been identified as Vadim Kruglov.

As Burning Man was underway, reports started to come out that a body of an attendee had been discovered in a “pool of blood”. Now, more details have emerged about who the person was after a Go Fund Me campaign was set up to fly him back to his home country of Russia so his family could say goodbye.

Vadim Kruglov was a 37-year-old Russian native living in Washington, who was pronounced dead at the scene close to midnight on Saturday, 30 August during the final day of the event. The fundraiser, which, at the time of writing, has risen to 86% of its goal of $45,000, states:

Vadim poured his soul into our community: building camp, creating art, helping others, and always sharing his kindness and energy. His contributions will forever remain part of the Burn’s history. Now, we want to honor his memory and support his family. We are raising funds to bring him home to Omsk, so that his parents can say their last goodbye and lay him to rest with his loved ones.”

Through an article published by The Independent, Vadim Kruglov’s father Igor Dmitrievich Kruglov said about his son:

He felt injustice deeply and fought for fairness always. This world is often unfair but, as a peaceful man, I seek justice. I want those responsible to face consequences. […] My son was an incredibly honest and great person. I will not allow anyone to tarnish his reputation with false claims of drug connections or anything else.

The situation is still ongoing, and local police are asking for any information that will lead to an arrest in connection to this tragedy. You can donate to the Go Fund Me here.
