Empire of the Sun reimagine ‘Walking On A Dream’ with new remix EP: Listen
Seventeen years after first mesmerizing the world with their breakout single, Empire Of The Sun are breathing new life into their iconic anthem. The Australian duo has unveiled ‘Walking On A Dream (Reimagined)‘, a seven-track remix compilation out now, showcasing how their music continues to transcend generations.
Fresh off a dazzling performance at CRSSD Festival in San Diego, widely regarded as one of the standout sets of the weekend, Empire of the Sun reminded fans why they remain one of the most genre-defying acts in music. Known for blending electronic dance elements with touches of indie, rock, and pop, their theatrical sound translates seamlessly from the studio to massive festival stages.
The ‘Walking On A Dream (Reimagined)’ EP brings together an eclectic collection of remixes and collaborations that reintroduce the single in bold new ways. Leading the pack is ‘Walking On A Dream (Resurrection),’ a long-coveted festival mashup that pairs Empire of the Sun’s vocals with Michael Calfan’s classic “Resurrection (Axwell Recut).” Once a hidden gem in Axwell’s Ultra and Tomorrowland sets, the track is finally available for fans worldwide. The release also spotlights inventive takes from BLOND:ISH, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and Marlon Hoffstadt, whose 90s-inspired trance twist gives the song a nostalgic edge. Kaskade’s remix joins the compilation, while Wiz Khalifa’s “The Thrill”, a platinum-certified hit built around the original, adds a hip-hop crossover that further underscores the track’s enduring influence.
First released in 2008, “Walking On A Dream” soared to #10 on the ARIA charts before breaking into the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, later achieving over two billion streams worldwide. Undoubtedly, this track has become a timeless staple of the 2000s era as the single continues to influence a new wave of artists and fans alike. Check out the entire compilation below:
