Fine Young Cannibals celebrate 40 years with career-spanning compilation ‘FYC40’: Listen
Fine Young Cannibals mark four decades with the release of FYC40, a definitive anthology arriving November 21 via London Records. The collection spans their meteoric rise, global chart dominance, and ongoing influence, offering fans a fresh look at one of the UK’s most unlikely yet enduring success stories.
The band made their breakthrough in 1985 with Johnny Come Home and a self-titled debut that revealed a sharp, soulful sound. However, it was 1989’s The Raw & The Cooked that transformed them into international icons, producing two Billboard No. 1 singles — She Drives Me Crazy and Good Thing — and selling over five million copies worldwide. The album also earned BRIT Awards, Ivor Novello recognition, and multiple GRAMMY nominations, cementing their place in music history.
Now, FYC40 revisits those landmark years while also unearthing rarities and brand-new remixes. Expanded formats include contributions from Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B, Norman Cook, Arthur Baker, and Faithless, alongside fresh interpretations from Flight Facilities, DJ Q, and The Reflex. A highlight comes with DJ Q’s reimagining of Ever Fallen in Love, bridging the track’s iconic history with contemporary club energy.
For collectors, the Deluxe 4CD/DVD box set goes further, presenting both studio albums with rarities, extensive remix discs, and a restored Live at the Paramount concert. With their music recently resurfacing in The Bear, All of Us Strangers, and global campaigns for Chanel, the group’s sound proves as relevant today as it was in their prime.
