Few collaborations in dance music hit harder than Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko, and their newest single, Butterflies, proves why.

Martin Garrix has once again joined forces with long-time collaborators Matisse & Sadko for their brand-new single ‘Butterflies.‘ The track dropped on Garrix’s own STMPD RCRDS label and marks the trio’s seventh release together and continues a creative relationship that began in 2015 with the track Dragon.‘ It’s a partnership that has consistently delivered some of progressive house’s most memorable anthems.

The track includes vocals from rising artist BARBZ. Her performance provides a layer of emotional depth, addressing themes of uncertainty and change.

The song first made waves earlier this summer when Garrix played it live during his residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza. Fans immediately latched onto it, speculating online about its release date and celebrating its return to that big, uplifting progressive house sound.

Butterflies isn’t just a single; it’s also part of something bigger. The track will appear on Garrix’s forthcoming EP, ORIGO, set for release at the end of September. Garrix has described the project as the “final missing piece” in a trilogy that began with Sentio and IDEM. While those earlier releases leaned heavily into club-driven sounds, ORIGO is shaping up to be more introspective, signalling both a closure and a fresh creative chapter.

Progressive house has been regaining momentum in recent years, and Butterflies fits squarely into that resurgence. The collaboration delivers the big, melodic sound that has defined Garrix and Matisse & Sadko’s work together, while adding a more reflective, vocal-driven layer.

With its combination of soaring drops, cinematic builds, and heartfelt lyrics, Butterflies reinforces why this creative partnership has lasted nearly a decade. It is a reminder of the energy Garrix and Matisse & Sadko bring to the genre, music that connects in the club, on festival stages, and beyond.
