Pet Shop Boys announce ‘Disco 5’
Pet Shop Boys have officially announced ‘Disco 5’, the fifth installment in their long-running remix album series, set for release on 21 November via Parlophone Records.
This latest collection continues the tradition that began in 1986 with the release of ‘Disco’. However, unlike earlier entries that leaned heavily on remixes of their own material, ‘Disco 5’ focuses on reimagining tracks by a diverse lineup of artists. The 12-track album includes the duo’s fresh takes on Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Primal Scream, Paul Weller, Tina Turner, Claptone, Wolfgang Tillmans, and more. Moreover, fans can expect collaborations such as ‘Purple Zone’ with Soft Cell, and a remix of ‘Dreamland’ featuring Olly Alexander.
Notably, the compilation also revives gems from the past. These include Sam Taylor-Johnson’s ‘I’m in Love With a German Film Star’, originally released on Kompakt in 2008, and Carroll Thompson’s ‘Let the Music Play’, which the duo produced for the 1992 film The Crying Game. In addition, the album features Sleaford Mods’ cover of ‘West End Girls’, remixed by the Pet Shop Boys themselves.
The new release follows the success of their 15th studio album ‘Nonetheless’, which peaked at No. 2 on the UK charts in April 2024. With a career spanning five decades, 50 million records sold, and countless accolades including BRIT and Ivor Novello awards, Pet Shop Boys remain the most successful UK duo of all time. As their acclaimed ‘Dreamworld’ tour continues into 2026, ‘Disco 5’ reinforces their enduring presence on both pop and electronic stages.
‘Disco 5’ will be available on digital, CD, and black or orange vinyl editions. Pre-order here.
