Sophie Ellis-Bextor releases new album Perimenopop: Listen
Sophie Ellis-Bextor has unveiled her eighth studio album, Perimenopop, out today via Cooking Vinyl/BMG, and with it she marks a confident return to bold, celebratory pop. At the same time, alongside the album release, Sophie dropped her shimmering new single ‘Stay On Me’ with an accompanying video, co-written by Selena Gomez, Julia Michaels, Kid Harpoon, and Caroline Ailin.
Building on the momentum of recent singles like ‘Freedom of the Night’ and ‘Relentless Love,’ Sophie has created a record that blends disco-driven anthems with reflective songwriting. Moreover, Perimenopop features contributions from longtime collaborators such as Biff Stannard, Hannah Robinson, and Ed Harcourt, while also welcoming new creative partners including Nile Rodgers, Sigrid, and MNEK. The result is an album that embodies mid-life joy, a theme Sophie has openly embraced.
Speaking on ‘Stay On Me,’ Sophie described it as “a celebration of being with your person and knowing—trusting—they only have eyes for you. It’s romantic and has a little nonchalant bop to it.” Filmed in South-West Ireland with acclaimed cinematographer Robbie Ryan and directed by Sophie Muller, the video marks the pair’s 19th collaboration, further extending a trusted creative partnership.
As Sophie Ellis-Bextor prepares for her North American headline tour beginning October 27th in Los Angeles – with additional stops in San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, and New York — she continues to build on a remarkable career that has already spanned 25 years. Moreover, her 2001 classic ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ recently enjoyed a viral resurgence after featuring in Saltburn, and as a result, it climbed charts globally and earned Platinum status in the US.
