Swedish House Mafia NYC Opener reacts to getting booed off stage
Following his controversial opening during Swedish House Mafia’s headline show in New York, Yves Tumor has reacted to getting booed off stage in a manner that adds further insult to the wound.
Following yet another major milestone in their illustrious career, Swedish House Mafia may have become the first electronic act to headline the 23,000-capacity Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City on September 11th, 2025, however, this came without its fair dose of controversy, as Yves Tumor was booed of stage after his performance as the opening act for the legendary Swedish band.
Having made quite the negative impression with his live performance, Tumor and his industrial style of play was most certainly not a fitting match when compared to the progressive music that was to follow, and as he combined hard techno and rock music, whilst also laying on the decks and unveiling an attitude not worthy of the opportunity he was presented with, it then came as no surprise that large sections in the crowd booed throughout his set, whilst the ending of it was received with a great cheer by all attendees.
In response to this, Tumor took to his social media accounts in order to leave his own thoughts on the matter, and that is when further debate has sparked on his attitude as a whole, as in his own stories he described everyone in attendance as “the most unoriginal people I’ve ever seen,” as well as stating that his set was “the best of the night.” Moreover, he referred to New York as “truly hell on earth,” before then tearing up a poster of the city, and to top it off, he also mocked the headliners themselves, by calling them ‘Irish house mafia.’
Eventful to say the least, Tumor continues to address the situation, whilst also sharing all the hostility received by Swedish House Mafia fans through either direct messages or through comments on his posts, and although violence is something that should never be condoned, Tumor has escalated the situation way beyond its need, through ironic replies and just an overall unappreciative response to what has unfolded ever since his opening set.
