The Temper Trap share new single ‘Giving Up Air’: Listen

The Temper Trap have returned with their powerful new anthem ‘Giving Up Air’, the follow-up to last month’s comeback single ‘Lucky Dimes’. Out now, the track blends soaring synths with a euphoric chorus while exploring the heavy emotions of grief, channeling raw vulnerability into something destined for festivals and dancefloors alike.

Frontman Dougy Mandagi explained that the track holds deep personal meaning. “‘Giving Up Air’ is a very important song for me about a life-changing moment and the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one in tragic circumstances – from the initial shock to sorrow and then anger, and finding glimmers of hope somewhere in between. Some of you may recognize it. It was written for my solo project Bloodmoon but the boys and I started working on it as The Temper Trap and it felt magical, like it had found its true home.”

Produced by Grammy-nominated Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Charli XCX, The Knocks, Khalid), the single follows the gritty indie-rock energy of ‘Lucky Dimes’, which reignited fan anticipation after the band’s nine-year break. That track earned heavy radio rotation across triple j, double j, SiriusXM’s Alt Nation, Radio X, and BBC 6 Music, as well as strong DSP support, landing on over 70 playlists with multiple Spotify cover spots.

The release also builds on a string of collaborations and remixes that have kept the group’s music in constant circulation, from ‘Love Lost’ with Mac Miller to fresh reworks of ‘Sweet Disposition’ by John Summit, Vintage Culture, and Lost Frequencies.
