Tomorrow Comes The Harvest announce new album with ‘The Happening’
Tomorrow Comes The Harvest have now unveiled ‘The Happening’, the lead piece from their upcoming album Forbidden Planet. Moreover, the single arrives digitally on September 23, while a vinyl edition will follow on October 17.
The project brings together Jeff Mills on percussion and synthesizers, Jean-Phi Dary on keyboards, Prabhu Edouard on tabla and vocals, and guest flutist Rasheeda Ali on ‘Natural High’. Through this release, the collective continues their mission of crafting music that extends beyond entertainment and instead moves into philosophical and existential exploration.
According to Mills, ‘The Happening’ is “a provocative confrontation… a challenge or dare to the idea that music can be useful if we are able to experience it.” He describes the work as an exploration of time and space, framing existence from its luminous origins to its inevitable conclusion. The nine-minute composition, he adds, symbolizes “the life and death of every living thing — infinity.”
Remarkably, ‘The Happening’ emerged spontaneously. While recording in northern Paris for what would become Forbidden Planet, the trio was asked to improvise extra material for a film crew. With no pre-arranged plan or structure, they relied purely on instinct and connection, arriving at a transformative creation that now serves as the centerpiece for their next chapter.
With Forbidden Planet, Tomorrow Comes The Harvest once again proves their ability to blend improvisation, philosophy, and musicianship into a boundary-pushing vision — one that challenges audiences to reconsider the purpose of music itself.
