Akai Professional has released the MPC Live III, the latest addition to its standalone music production lineup. The new model builds on the MPC Live II with increased processing power, new performance tools, and updated hardware aimed at producers who prefer a DAWless workflow.

The MPC Live III runs on an 8-core processor with 8GB of RAM, allowing for up to 32 simultaneous plug-in instances and 16 audio tracks. It operates on the MPC3 OS 3.6, which introduces features such as Pro Stems Separation, Super Timestretch, and an updated Clip Matrix for real-time arrangement and performance.

A key change from the Live II is the introduction of MPCe™ pads, which use 3D-sensing technology to provide X/Y modulation and additional performance control. The device also includes dedicated 16-step sequencer buttons and a performance touch-strip, designed for more precise sequencing and live manipulation.

The Live III continues Akai’s focus on portability, featuring built-in monitors, a rechargeable battery, and for the first time, a built-in microphone for capturing vocals or field recordings. Connectivity has been expanded with USB-C, enhanced MIDI and CV I/O, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth for wireless transfer and collaboration.

The Akai MPC Live III is available now through authorized retailers at $1,699 USD (€1,649 / £1,399).
