Jeff Mills celebrates 30 years of Live at Liquid Room with world tour and reissue

Thirty years ago, Jeff Mills stepped into Tokyo’s Liquid Room and redefined what electronic music could be. The performance, recorded live in 1995, became more than just a mix – it became mythology. Spanning sixty-eight minutes of relentless rhythm and precision, Live at Liquid Room captured Mills at his most visionary: fast, fearless, and completely in command of his craft.

With just two turntables and two reel-to-reel tape machines, Mills dismantled and rebuilt techno in real time. The result was a performance so raw and intense that it remains a benchmark for DJs and producers even today. Every transition, loop, and layered texture told a story — one that inspired generations to innovate, experiment, and push beyond convention.

Now, three decades later, Live at Liquid Room returns in full force. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Jeff Mills and his label Axis Records are taking the legendary recording on a world tour, reintroducing the groundbreaking set to new audiences. Alongside the tour, Live at Liquid Room will also be released on CD and Cassette, preserving its legacy in both modern and classic formats.

More than a nostalgic revival, the 2025 tour marks a reflection on techno’s enduring power – the moment one artist changed the trajectory of the genre forever.
