Roland has unveiled the TR-1000, a flagship drum machine that signals the company’s return to true analog drum synthesis after more than four decades. Released today, the instrument merges authentic analog circuits with digital modeling, advanced sampling, and modern performance tools, positioning it as one of the most ambitious rhythm machines the company has ever produced.

Key Highlights of The Roland TR-1000
The TR-1000 houses 16 fully analog sound circuits directly inspired by the TR-808 and TR-909. These have been engineered with contemporary components for greater dynamic range and precision, while Roland’s ACB (Analog Circuit Behavior) modeling adds 21 circuit-bent variants. In addition, the machine incorporates FM synthesis, virtual analog engines, and a library of 2,000 PCM samples. With 64 GB of onboard memory, 46 GB available to the user—sampling and resampling are integrated seamlessly, including BPM sync, time-stretching, and non-destructive editing.
Layered Tracks and Advanced Sequencing
The TR-1000 introduces four dual-layer tracks that allow producers to stack sound engines, analog and digital, or sequence them independently for more complex arrangements. These are driven by a next-generation TR-REC step sequencer, which supports traditional programming while adding features such as probability settings, off-grid timing modes, cycle rotation, motion recording, and expressive live tools like snapshots, morphing, and step looping.
Onboard processing combines analog and digital domains. A state-variable filter and dedicated drive circuit provide analog coloration, while digital processors cover a broad spectrum, including saturation, bit-crushing, pitch delay, flanging, and reverb. Each voice is equipped with a compressor, multimode filter, EQ, and modulation options, ensuring flexibility both in the studio and on stage.

Connectivity and Integration
The unit offers a wide array of I/O for hybrid setups: stereo main outputs, an analog FX output, and ten assignable jacks that can serve as individual outs or triggers for external gear. Additional connectivity includes stereo inputs, CV and trigger I/Os, MIDI in/out/thru, DIN sync, and USB-C for multichannel audio, MIDI, sample management, and firmware updates. A companion TR-1000 app provides deeper editing and librarian functionality.
While drawing directly from the legacy of the TR-808 and TR-909, the new release extends the series into modern workflows with sampling, layered sequencing, and broad connectivity.
