Daft Punk producer listed as writer on new Rosalía track: Listen
As Daft Punk fans continue to mourn the dissolution of the duo several years ago, its members are slowly emerging with public projects again. This week, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s writing and composition talents were featured on a new track from a prominent Spanish artist.
With the release of her latest album, Lux, Spanish singer Rosalía has teamed up with a superstar collection of writers and producers such as Caroline Shaw, David Rodriguez, Dylan Wiggins, Noah Goldstein, and Ryan Tedder. One of the most exciting collaborators was the former Daft Punk robot, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, who is listed as a ‘writer and composer’ on the track, Reliquia. Since the duo announced their break-up years ago, they have continued their relative radio silence in regards to public announcements and media contact, but both members have been slowly delivering more music and content in recent weeks.
The other half of Daft Punk, Thomas Bangalter, has certainly been the more public-facing of the two members, having released a classical score to an opera and produced the soundtrack to the film Dali, as well as an incredible return to the stage alongside Fred again.. in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Guy-Manuel has been far more reclusive, but rumors continue to swirl concerning his plans and productions. Emmanuel de Buretel, founder of Because Music, has hinted that the French producer is working on a solo album, but no official word has surfaced. In the meantime, Guy-Manuel’s contribution to Rosalía’s album showcases his wide range of talent and creativity.
Listen to Reliquia, and stream all of Rosalía’s new album Lux now.
