Tomorrowland brings its first indoor edition to Shanghai

Tomorrowland introduced its first-ever indoor edition in China this weekend, bringing a fully immersive festival experience to Shanghai’s new Hero Dome. Although the structure opened only recently, it instantly delivered an atmosphere worthy of the festival’s global reputation. Moreover, the 100m x 120m venue welcomed more than 10,000 guests across two action-packed days, blending music, culture, fashion, gastronomy, and technology under one roof.

From the outset, Tomorrowland highlighted Shanghai’s unique energy by pairing international icons with standout Chinese talent. Dimitri Vegas closed the opening night and, in a thrilling moment, welcomed superstar Masiwei for a surprise collaboration that sent the arena into a frenzy. On the second stage inside the Budweiser Hall, Chris Lorenzo energized the crowd while DubVision, Matisse & Sadko, and Third Party teamed up for a powerful b3b performance. Additionally, local favorites Tiger Drama, DJ Sally, and Halo amplified the hometown spirit.

Throughout the weekend, unexpected pairings defined the event. Amber Broos joined Chinese pioneer Meguru, creating a fast-paced techno moment, while Henri PFR shifted the mood with a warm, melodic set. Later, Don Diablo returned the arena to full intensity as rapper GALI jumped onstage for an exclusive collaboration. Meanwhile, Amelie Lens pushed the room into darker territory with her hard-edged selections.

As the night progressed, Andromedik delivered a high-tempo drum & bass eruption, and Apashe stunned the audience with a cinematic, brass-driven performance. Furthermore, Tomorrowland elevated the experience with elaborate production completely built locally, from the Paperworld Stage to the illuminated Butterfly Stage, supported by a Belgian–Dutch technical team guiding Shanghai crews.

In the end, Tomorrowland proved its global magic adapts effortlessly to an indoor arena. “Shanghai welcomed us with open arms – the energy was unforgettable,” the team said.
