André 3000 releases official music video for TRAИƧA contribution: Watch
André 3000 returns with a deeply immersive visual experience as he unveils the official music video for ‘Something Is Happening And I May Not Fully Understand But I’m Happy To Stand For The Understanding’, his 26-minute contribution to Red Hot’s ambitious 2023 concept album ‘TRAИƧA’. As the video arrives, it reinforces the project’s mission to celebrate trans voices through an expansive, spiritual musical journey featuring more than 100 artists.
From the outset, the video expands the piece’s meditative intent. Blending 2D and 3D forms, it shifts between organic landscapes and digitally constructed scenes. Moreover, the visual language draws inspiration from Édouard Glissant’s ‘Poetic Intention’ and the atmospheric aesthetics of early console-era graphics, exploring how identity, perception, and relation take shape in a constantly shifting world.
Within the album’s structure, André’s composition anchors the ‘Awakening’ chapter. Stretching nearly half an hour, it moves freely without traditional bars, becoming a stream of musical dialogue. Additionally, André invites a circle of collaborators into the piece, including Carlos Niño, Deantoni Parks / Technoself, Nate Mercereau, Diego Gaeta, Maia, Matthewdavid, Shabaka, and V.C.R., all contributing to its ceremonial flow.
Meanwhile, ‘TRAИƧA’ stands as one of Red Hot’s most ambitious works to date. Produced over several years, the collection spans eight chapters and 46 songs, spotlighting an extraordinary list of trans and non-binary artists, alongside legendary contributors. The project includes the first Sade song in six years as well as recordings from Sam Smith, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Perfume Genius, Hunter Schafer, L’Rain, Julien Baker, Laura Jane Grace, Yaeji, Teddy Geiger, Clairo, Adrianne Lenker, and many more.
Ultimately, André 3000 new video deepens the world of ‘TRAИƧA’, reaffirming its place as a landmark cultural and musical statement.
