Honey Gee talks main inspirations, upcoming plans and more: Interview
Delivering the most dynamic of sounds, Honey Gee opens up on a vast array of subjects in this exclusive interview.
Carving out her own unique path within the electronic dance industry, Honey Gee is more than set on leaving a lasting mark, whilst each of her endeavours thus far, speak volumes on the genius mind that she possesses. Hailing from Thailand and currently taking over Germany’s music scene, Honey Gee is well and truly on her way towards global dominance, and we in turn, are more than thrilled to have caught up with the lady herself in this exclusive interview.
Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you provide us with an insight on the main inspirations/influences that led to your chosen career pathway in music?
“I’ve always loved listening to electronic dance music. One night, I was watching a Tomorrowland livestream — David Guetta’s set in 2011 — and I suddenly asked myself, “Why can’t I be the one standing on that stage?” That single question literally changed my entire life. I went straight to YouTube, typed in “DJ live,” and from that moment on, I never stopped. Music became my path, my passion, and my purpose.”

Boasting the most dynamic of signature sound(s), we would like to know the origin of your style of play and how it may have evolved over time?
“I started out playing underground music back in 2011. Over time, through touring and constantly discovering new sounds in the electronic music world, my style naturally evolved toward the EDM scene. Between 2012 and 2014, I really loved playing EDM and was heavily inspired by artists like David Guetta, Avicii, Calvin Harris, and Zedd. From 2015 to 2021, my sound shifted again as I fell deeply in love with Bigroom and Big Room Techno, inspired by Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Afrojack. That became the core energy of my sets during that period. When I started touring again in Germany between 2022 and 2025, my musical world expanded even more. I discovered Hard Dance and Hard Techno — genres with incredibly powerful drops and basslines — and I instantly fell in love with them. After all these experiences, I realized I didn’t want to choose just one style. I love them all. So now I combine Big Room Techno, Hard Dance, and Hard Techno into my sets. I can really feel that the crowd connects with this fusion, and they see my true energy when I play.”
With versatility a key aspect in the dance scene, could you talk us through your preferred genre(s), and the impact they have had thus far on your career?
“This is a really great question. Like I mentioned earlier, I used to play underground music, but at that time it didn’t bring many bookings. In my home country, Thailand, underground music wasn’t widely understood yet. When I transitioned into EDM, everything changed. I started getting more bookings, and more importantly, I discovered a sound that truly matched my personality. EDM allows me to express my energy fully and connect with the crowd on a deeper level — so they don’t just hear my music, they feel it.”

Delivering pure energy with your live performances, we would like to know the preparation process behind each set, as well as the overall feel of taking over stages across Germany and Europe?
“My preparation process is actually quite simple. About one to two weeks before a show, I take time to listen to, check, and edit my music carefully until the show day arrives. Of course, I’m always super excited and really happy before performing — sometimes so excited that I get nervous. That’s why I usually meditate for about 10–15 minutes before going on stage. It helps me focus, calm my mind, and balance my energy. Once I step on stage, I can fully deliver the true Honey Gee energy.”
Releasing music under the most renowned of labels, could you talk us through the impact of such milestones, and how rewarding such recognition can actually be?
“This has always been one of my biggest dreams, and I’m incredibly grateful that it’s becoming reality. Releasing music means so much to me and to my career. To share a bit of background: in Thailand, especially in the past, DJs didn’t focus much on releasing original music. When I moved to Germany at the end of 2019, my perspective completely changed. I learned how important it is to have your own music and releases — it helps build a fan base and allows people to truly understand your sound and identity as an artist.”
Neon Countdown felt like a defining moment for you – how did that performance feel on stage, and what stayed with you after you walked off?
I felt incredibly proud and genuinely happy. It meant so much to me to finally be able to DJ and showcase my own musical identity in my hometown, Bangkok, at one of Asia’s biggest festivals.
What stayed with me after I walked off stage was something I never expected. I couldn’t believe that my mother came up on stage while I was in the middle of my DJ set. I was so surprised, because I’ve always had a dream that if I ever got to play a big festival in my hometown, I would want to bring my mom on stage with me at least once. And that dream came true.
When I held my mom’s hand and looked at her face, I almost cried. It was such an overwhelming moment filled with gratitude and happiness. It’s a memory I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

You chose a self-designed traditional Thai outfit for that set – what was the concept behind it, and what message did you want people to feel, not just see?
I wanted everyone to know that even though I am an international DJ, I am still truly Thai. No matter how many countries I travel to or where I perform, I never forget my roots or my Thai identity.
I wanted people to feel that Thai culture and Thai heritage are beautiful and valuable, and that they can coexist and communicate naturally with global music. In the world of sound, there are no limitations or boundaries. No matter where you come from or what your background is, music has the power to unite everyone as one.
Do you see this as the start of a new visual identity for Honey Gee, where your outfits become part of the storytelling of each show?
Yes, I do see this as a possible starting point for Honey Gee’s visual identity. However, I would like to use this kind of visual storytelling specifically for really special events or important occasions.
Honey Gee, you’ve been breaking boundaries and reaching new heights. Looking ahead to 2026 – which show is set to be your biggest and most defining moment?
Without a doubt, Tomorrowland in Belgium. It’s a real goosebumps moment for me because I’ll be the first Thai mainstream DJane to perform there. Before me, only Nakadia represented Thailand at Tomorrowland but from the underground scene. So this is not just a personal dream coming true, it’s a huge honor to bring Thai mainstream energy onto one of the world’s most iconic EDM stages. I honestly can’t wait to feel that connection with the crowd and show my energy!

An artist to watch by all means, we will most certainly be keeping a close eye on Honey Gee and all her future projects, but for the time being, you can stay fully up to date by following her on Instagram, Tik Tok and Spotify!
