Home Music Madam Lola channels control and surrender on debut EP ‘Domination Frequency’

Madam Lola has always treated the dance floor as more than a place to play records. It’s a space for exchange, where energy moves between bodies, tension builds slowly, and release comes on instinct rather than demand. With her debut EP “Domination Frequency,: the Vancouver-based artist and producer translates that same philosophy into her own music for the first time.

Madam Lola has never approached the dance floor as a passive space. For her, it’s a site of exchange, where energy circulates, tension is carefully shaped, and release happens naturally rather than on command. With her debut EP “Domination Frequency,” the Vancouver-based artist and producer captures that same sensibility in her own music for the first time. The two-track EP is dark, direct, and deliberate. Drawing from techno, indie dance, and industrial textures, “Domination Frequency” resists easy categorization, instead prioritizing mood and physicality over genre. Both tracks mirror the qualities that define Madam Lola’s DJ sets: controlled, slow-burning, and unapologetically dominant.

Opening track “Whatever Lola Wants” thrives on restraint. Its sharp groove teases rather than explodes, stretching tension across minimal movement and letting the atmosphere do the work. There’s confidence in its patience and a sense of power in holding back. “Who’s the Master” answers with force. Heavier and more commanding, the track is built for the moment a room fully locks in, when the dance floor stops resisting and gives itself over completely. Together, the EP plays like a conversation between control and surrender.

Contrast has always been central to Madam Lola’s identity. Raised between cultures and now performing internationally, her sound lives in the space between softness and strength, ritual and rave. Her DJ sets move fluidly across indie dance, tech house, Afro-influenced rhythms, downtempo passages, and harder club moments, guided by intuition rather than expectation. That same ethos extends beyond the booth. Madam Lola is the creative force behind Harem: East Meets West, a spiritual and cultural gathering centered on movement and connection, as well as Funhouse, a raw and playful rave concept that leans into sexuality, freedom, and self-expression. Both projects reflect the philosophy embedded within Domination Frequency: expression without apology.

Having shared stages with artists such as Eric Prydz, John Summit, and ARTBAT, Madam Lola has spent years refining her voice behind the decks. This debut EP marks the first time that voice is fully captured on record, focused, confident, and unmistakably her own.
