mau5trap drops ‘We Are Friends Vol. 12’ Disk 1: Listen

mau5trap has kicked off 2026 with ‘We Are Friends Vol. 12’ Disk 1, a 15-track compilation built around new artist discovery and forward-facing club music. Moreover, the release continues the label’s long-running mission of spotlighting emerging talent, while still connecting the dots to its legacy through carefully selected headline moments.

The project’s focus track comes from The XTTC with ‘1 of My Kind’, following earlier singles Ciauru’s ‘Supersonic Electronic (on acid)’ and a fresh rework of deadmau5’s classic ‘Strobe’ via &friends and Moeaike. Additionally, Disk 1 brings in a wide range of names across the label’s ecosystem, including Avis Vox, Meyer, imallryt, Hreez, Micha Mendel, Quantaloop, ELAC, Me & You, Penultimate, Sysdemes, and infinikid, reinforcing the compilation’s role as a gateway into what’s next.

Beyond the music, The XTTC arrives as a high-concept anonymous project that blends electronic production with visual storytelling. Instead of leaning into traditional artist branding, the duo uses alter-egos and narrative characters to build a darker, cinematic world around their sound, leaning into electro pressure, seductive vocals, and late-night tension.
