Moby shares live video of ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die’ with Jacob Lusk

Moby has shared a new live video for ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die’, featuring Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, offering a fresh rework of one of his most emotional deep cuts. Moreover, the performance arrives as a preview of Moby’s upcoming album ‘Future Quiet’, due out on 20 February via BMG.

The track originally appeared on Moby’s 1995 album ‘Everything Is Wrong’, where it stood out as a slow-burning, atmospheric moment far removed from traditional dancefloor structure. However, the song found a massive second life after appearing in seasons one and four of Netflix’s Stranger Things, pushing it toward a new generation of listeners and sparking renewed viral momentum across platforms like TikTok. Moby addressed the unexpected reach, saying: “It’s reaching hundreds of millions of people annually… especially as it was an obscure song with no drums or bass and was never released as a single.”

For ‘Future Quiet’, Moby opens the record with an orchestral reworking of the song, now led by Jacob Lusk’s voice. Additionally, Moby explained how he discovered Lusk through KCRW and spent weeks trying to connect, later adding that the results “speak for themselves.”

Beyond the single, ‘Future Quiet’ frames itself as a therapeutic listening space, created in response to Moby’s anxiety and insomnia. At the same time, he described the album as a refuge from an increasingly loud world, built for listeners who want calm rather than chaos.

With his biggest tour in a decade set for an announcement soon, Moby’s 2026 schedule already includes Coachella and the sold-out On The Beach festival in Brighton, UK. For now, the live video clearly reminds us why this song still resonates nearly three decades later.
