Beastie Boys’ ‘To the 5 Boroughs’ returns as limited 3LP and 2CD deluxe editions

More than two decades after it first stormed the charts, Beastie Boys’ self-produced New York manifesto ‘To the 5 Boroughs’ is heading back to shelves in a definitive physical form.

On April 17, 2026, the platinum-selling 2004 album returns as limited-edition 3LP and 2CD sets, marking the first time the 2019 digital deluxe edition receives a full physical release. Both formats feature 11 bonus tracks, including remixes and B-sides that expand the project’s original scope.

First-ever physical release of the Beastie Boys‘ 2019 deluxe edition

The 3LP edition arrives pressed on 180-gram vinyl, housed inside a triple gatefold jacket complete with pop-up elements and a subway map lithograph, all packaged within a firm slipcase. Meanwhile, the 2CD edition arrives in a multi-paneled soft pack, offering a more compact but equally comprehensive format.

Originally released in 2004, ‘To the 5 Boroughs’ served as a direct tribute to New York City. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top Rap Albums, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Top Current Albums, Rap Album Sales and Top Album Sales charts. Tracks such as ‘Ch-Check It Out’, ‘Triple Trouble’ and ‘Shazam!’ showcased the group’s razor-sharp wordplay and pop culture fluency, while cuts like ‘Right Right Now Now’, ‘It Takes Time To Build’ and ‘An Open Letter To NYC’ carried social and political weight in a post-9/11 landscape.

Critically, the album balanced humor and urgency. Rolling Stone described it as “fast, funny and sobering,” while Pitchfork highlighted the confidence of a group operating with nothing to prove. The expanded edition adds deeper layers to that era. The third LP and second CD introduce remixes including the ‘Ch-Check It Out (Just Blaze Remix)’ and multiple reworks of ‘Triple Trouble’, alongside rarities such as ‘Rizzle Rizzle Nizzle Nizzle’, ‘MTL Reppin’ For The 514’ and ‘RRNN: Straight Outta Shibuya’.

For collectors, this Beastie Boys reissue isn’t simply nostalgic packaging — it represents the first opportunity to own the full deluxe experience in a tangible format. Pre-orders are now live ahead of the April release date. More than 20 years later, ‘To the 5 Boroughs’ remains a snapshot of a city, a moment and a trio that defined their own lane. Now, it returns with the weight it always deserved.
