Carl Cox releases James Brown remix for Black History Month: Listen

Carl Cox has announced the release of his contemporary remix of James Brown’s landmark 1968 anthem ‘Say It Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud’, arriving on February 6, 2026 in recognition of Black History Month. Notably, the release places one of the most influential messages in Black musical history into a modern electronic context, while maintaining the song’s original intent and cultural weight.

Originally released during the height of the U.S. civil rights movement, ‘Say It Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud’ became both a declaration and a rallying cry. Its call-and-response structure, funk-driven rhythm, and unapologetic affirmation of identity established it as one of James Brown’s most enduring statements.
