deadmau5 delivered his iconic hit ‘Strobe’ 17 years ago

Few artists have been as successful and polarizing as deadmau5 has throughout his incredible career. Now, one of his most iconic hits is turning 17, and we are here to celebrate.

When deadmau5 first released Strobe back in 2009, the dance music landscape was very different from today. It was more of an underground scene, and before the true expansion of social media and the need to produce constant content. It was during this time that deadmau5 delivered some of his most iconic works, releasing three brilliant albums in a row. In the middle of that run, he would share For Lack Of A Better Name, which contained some of his most iconic productions. Of course few tracks have endeared the way the album closer, Strobe, has through the years.

Released 17 years ago, Strobe instantly struck a chord with fans for its playful melody and driving percussion. deadmau5 was truly coming into his own, and the track represents all his production prowess and keen sense of melody at once. Despite being released nearly two decades ago, it remains a staple of deadmau5’s live show and a fan favorite. In celebration of the track, a remake from &friends and Moeaike was featured on the We Are Friends, Vol. 12 compilation.
