One dead and six hospitalised at Dreamstate Australia in Sydney

Home Events One dead and six hospitalised at Dreamstate Australia in Sydney

Taking place this past weekend at Sydney Olympic Park, Dreamstate Australia was struck by tragedy as one man died and six others were hospitalised following a potential mass overdose incident.

Raising the debate over festival safety and the current measures that are in place, Dreamstate Australia was struck by tragedy this past weekend, as one man lost his life and six others were rushed to nearby hospitals following a series of medical emergencies. Pronounced dead at the scene, a forty-year-old male who has not been formally identified yet, with six more attendees also impacted by what authorities are now investigating as a potential mass overdose incident.

An event that took place at Sydney Olympic Park, and with thousands of trance and techno enthusiasts in attendance, it was news of such tragic nature that has overshadowed the festival’s occurrence, and in turn, putting drug use regulations at the forefront yet again. Coming just days after New South Wales (NSW) Health had issued a high-priority warning on high-dose MDMA tablets circulating around the state, making their consumption extremely dangerous; it is not yet known what precisely caused the events that occurred at Dreamstate Australia, however, drug use at festivals is a major health concern, that should be addressed on the constant in order to help avoid such incidents.

From what was supposed to be a day of dance music celebrations, to the absolute of tragedies, it is outcomes of such nature that put our lives into perspective, and as the availability of drug-checking becomes increasingly more important in this day and age, we would like to send our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, whilst also wishing a speedy recovery to the six who were also affected. An ongoing police investigation, with further information to soon follow, be sure to also leave your own thoughts in the comments section.
