Frigid links with Grim Sickers & Rakjay on grit-heavy ‘No Hibernation’ EP: Listen

Home Music Frigid links with Grim Sickers & Rakjay on grit-heavy ‘No Hibernation’ EP: Listen

Frigid returns with “No Hibernation,” a two-track EP that pairs his gritty, bass-heavy production with commanding features from Grim Sickers and Rakjay. Blending dubstep, grime, and UK rap influences, the project channels themes of survival, perseverance, and artistic integrity into one of his most personal releases to date.

Frigid releases “No Hibernation,” a sharp, two-track EP that captures the producer’s raw, bass-weighted sound and his deepening ties to the UK rap underground. Pairing his grimy-leaning production with heavyweight vocal features from Grim Sickers and Rakjay, the release feels pointed and purposeful as a statement from an artist who has spent years building scenes and now steps forward with something personal.

The opener, “Cost Of Living” featuring Grim Sickers, sets the tone immediately. Driven by a dubstep-focused contemporary beat, the track hits with low-end pressure and space to breathe. Grim Sickers cuts through the instrumental with sharp, memorable bars centered on money, survival, and the cost of staying true to artistic integrity. Frigid’s production remains gritty and deliberate, blending dubstep, grime, trap, and lo-fi textures into a sound that feels both rugged and refined. The title track, “No Hibernation,” featuring Rakjay, raises the intensity. Rakjay delivers an authoritative verse that draws a firm line between himself and the competition, moving with precision over Frigid’s genre-blurring backdrop.

“I’m really grateful to have worked with Rakjay and Grim Sickers — they’re incredible lyricists and collaborators,” says Frigid. “We went back and forth on themes pulled from our own lives, especially around hardship and perseverance. No Hibernation is the first project I’m releasing that speaks directly to these experiences. I’m excited for people to really listen, connect with the lyrics, and hopefully see parts of their own story reflected in them.”

Frigid’s path to this moment has been layered. Born in Montreal to Kabyle immigrant parents and raised near Vancouver, he began making music at 11, developing his ear through hands-on experimentation with instruments and beatmaking. After losing both parents at age 20, he immersed himself in production and DJing, using music as both refuge and forward momentum. Before fully stepping into his own artist project, Frigid became known as a curator and scene-builder. He championed forward-thinking bass music across Canada, helping bring early shows for names like TroyBoi, QUIX, and Tsuruda to local audiences while supporting emerging artists on their path to headlining status. That instinct for discovery still shapes his approach today, whether in the studio or behind the decks.

His live sets are energetic and technically sharp, drawing from UK and North American traditions while pushing into new territory. That duality has strengthened his connection to the UK scene, where he now collaborates closely with artists including Pav4n, Rakjay, and Grim Sickers. Through his monthly residency on Subtle Radio, The Ice Box Sessions, he continues spotlighting cutting-edge bass music from around the world, reinforcing his role as a bridge between scenes.

With No Hibernation, Frigid distills years of groundwork into something direct and uncompromising. The EP feels fearless, rooted in lived experience, and driven by ambition. Setting the tone for what’s to come as he pushes deeper into 2026.
