Goldie’s Rufige Kru Return With ‘Metal Giants’ EP

Home Music Goldie’s Rufige Kru Return With ‘Metal Giants’ EP

Goldie dons his alter ego Rufige Kru, alongside Submotive, and returns with a new five-track release titled ‘Metal Giants’. Out now, the EP delivers fresh material from the duo and continues the uncompromising drum & bass legacy tied to the Metalheadz founder. Consequently, the release marks another decisive chapter following last year’s album ‘Alpha Omega’.

Moreover, the EP draws its name and artwork inspiration from the New York subway carriages that Goldie once used as graffiti canvases. The opening track, ‘Metal Detekt’, features dissonant call-and-response tones sampled from a Stussy x Metalheadz collaboration advert. Meanwhile, ‘Backgammon Blues’ stems from a competitive backgammon session between Goldie and Submotive in Thailand. In addition, ‘People & Places (Submotive VIP)’ revisits a track from ‘Alpha Omega’, while the closing title track incorporates a vocal sample from late graffiti artist Dondi, referencing New York train yards as “metal giants.”

Furthermore, industry peers have already responded strongly to the EP. Artists including DJ Krust, John B, DJ Marky, Micky Finn, and Doc Scott have publicly backed the new material. This momentum follows the success of ‘Alpha Omega’, which secured a nomination for Best Album at the DJ Mag Awards and featured collaborations such as ‘Still The Same’ with CASISDEAD and ‘Goldikus’ with Cleveland Watkiss MBE. Ultimately, ‘Metal Giants’ reinforces Rufige Kru’s enduring influence within drum & bass culture.
