Joris Voorn announces ambient album ‘Melatonin’
Joris Voorn has announced his new album ‘Melatonin’, a downtempo and ambient-focused project set for release on March 13, aligning with World Sleep Day. While his 2025 album ‘Serotonin’ centered on club energy and movement, this new record pivots inward, exploring atmosphere, sound design, and melodic clarity. Consequently, ‘Melatonin’ arrives as a deliberate counterbalance to its dancefloor-driven predecessor.
Moreover, Voorn structures the album around longer-form textures and expansive sonic environments, shaping a widescreen listening experience built for reflection rather than peak-time impact. Over the past two decades, he has moved seamlessly between techno precision and melodic composition, releasing full-length albums including ‘Future History’, ‘From a Deep Place’, ‘Nobody Knows’, ‘Four’, and ‘Serotonin’. In addition, he has reinforced his curatorial reputation through mix compilations such as Balance 014, Fabric 83, and Global Underground 043: Rotterdam.
To mark the album’s arrival, Voorn will perform a special one-off live presentation at ARTIS Planetarium in Amsterdam. The 360-degree audiovisual show will place him beneath a celestial dome projection, performing the album to an intimate seated audience of 320. Furthermore, he will broadcast the full performance live on YouTube on release day.
Ultimately, with ‘Melatonin’, Joris Voorn expands his artistic range once again, turning toward stillness, detail, and the quieter hours that inspired the record.
