LALAL.AI has launched its first stem separation DAW plugin, bringing its AI-powered technology directly into producer workflows. Launched originally in 2020 as a browser-based service, LALAL.AI has since expanded its product range to include tools for stem separation, voice cloning as well as desktop and mobile applications.

This new plugin is built on a newly developed AI model called Lyra, which is designed to run locally on “virtually any hardware.” As of now, the plugin only supports splitting audio into vocals and instrumentals. LALAL.AI has confirmed that multi-stem separation for up to six individual instruments is planned for a future update. Compared with the more advanced Andromeda model, which remains exclusive to LALAL.AI’s online platform, Lyra offers reduced separation quality.

Speaking about the deal LALAL.AI co-founder Nik Pogorsky said, “Isolating vocals or making a purely instrumental track can happen as fluidly as a producer or artist does any other task inside their preferred software. Professionals are already adopting tools like LALAL.AI because they solve key problems for them. We’ve simply put that tool right where they need it, in their workstation, so that they can get more creative without getting dragged out of their flow.”

The plugin is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux, is currently available in VST3 format. It requires a Pro-tier subscription priced at $15 per month. An AU version is currently in beta.
