Odymel responds to sexual misconduct allegations: “I was sleepwalking”

Home News Odymel responds to sexual misconduct allegations: “I was sleepwalking”

As scrutiny continues to intensify within the techno scene, Odymel has publicly addressed allegations of sexual misconduct circulating online. The Brussels-based DJ, born Antoine Lauffer, stated that he intends to fully cooperate with an ongoing investigation and claims the incident in question occurred while he was sleepwalking.

The wider controversy began in 2025, when Fantasm faced accusations of inappropriate behavior and was subsequently removed from the lineup of Dour Festival. Since the start of this year, artists including Shlømo, Basswell, and CARV have also come under public scrutiny after screenshots and testimonies spread across social media platforms.

Now, Odymel finds himself at the center of similar allegations.

“I want to share my side of the story”

In a statement shared via his social channels, Odymel explained why he initially remained silent. “I didn’t want to communicate incorrectly or unintentionally hurt anyone,” he wrote, adding that the scale of discussion online ultimately pushed him to speak.

According to his account, the incident involves a person with whom he previously had consensual sexual relations. He claims the individual later informed him that an episode occurred while he was asleep.

Odymel says he suffers from somnambulism, commonly known as sleepwalking, and that he has no memory of the alleged events. He describes learning days later that, while asleep, he allegedly initiated sexual behavior. He states that when the other person verbally asked him to stop, he immediately did so.

Odymel referenced a condition known as sexsomnia, a sleep disorder in which individuals may engage in sexual activity while unconscious. “I genuinely don’t remember anything,” he emphasized.

Investigation ongoing

Odymel confirmed that a preliminary investigation is underway and that two hearings have already taken place. He stressed that no court ruling has been made and that no formal trial has begun. He also stated that he voluntarily participates in both legal and medical evaluations.

“I understand that saying ‘I was sleepwalking’ sounds like an easy excuse,” he acknowledged. “I would be skeptical too.” However, he maintains that he seeks an objective clarification of the facts through official channels.

He added that he has entered therapy since the incident and reiterated that he distances himself from any harmful behavior in the scene.

As the broader discussion around accountability, consent, and power dynamics continues to unfold within electronic music, Odymel’s case now becomes part of a much larger conversation — one that continues to reshape the culture of nightlife across Europe and beyond.
