Alphatheta adresses recent rekordbox playlist compatibility issues
Alphatheta has released an “important notice” adressing a rekordbox issue with USB exports. Across different generations of Pioneer DJ hardware, the issue stems from the software using two library formats when exporting tracks to USB: the newer OneLibrary (formerly Device Library Plus) and the older Device Library format.
New vs Old Hardware Limitations
Newer devices such as the CDJ-3000X, OPUS-QUAD, OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ only support the newer OneLibrary format. In contrast, older models like the CDJ-3000 and XDJ-XZ can only read USBs exported using the original Device Library format. So, playlists exported in the older format may appear on the older players but not on the newer ones.
How to Fix the Issue on rekordbox
As per AlphaTheta, the issue can be resolved by updating rekordbox to version 7.2.11 or later, before re-exporting. After updating, rekordbox will automatically convert the USB files to the correct format. The company has also provided a guide for manually converting playlists. It confirmed that music files and playlists will not be deleted from USB devices when connected to players.
The notice follows recent issues with the CDJ-3000 firmware update (Ver.3.30), which was suspended in late 2025 after DJs reported missing playlists. The company has since advised users to revert to Ver.3.20 while the issue is addressed.
