Applied Acoustics Systems Chromaphone 3 Gets 50% Discount, Now $99

Applied Acoustics Systems has reduced the price of Chromaphone 3 to $99, down from $199, as part of a limited-time 50% discount running until March 22.

Chromaphone 3 is an acoustic object synthesizer that uses physical modeling technology rather than traditional sampling. The instrument generates sound through eight modeled acoustic resonators, allowing producers to recreate realistic instruments or design entirely new hybrid tones.

The synthesizer features a two-voice multitimbral engine, enabling users to combine two independent timbres in either stacked or split configurations. This architecture allows for layered textures, performance splits, and more complex sound design possibilities within a single patch.

One of the defining elements of Chromaphone 3 is its resonator modeling system. Users can mix and match elements such as strings, plates, drumheads, membranes, beams, bars, and tubes to create instruments that range from realistic acoustic emulations to experimental metallic or percussive textures. The engine also models energy coupling between resonators, a proprietary technology that simulates the bidirectional energy flow found in real-world acoustic instruments.

Chromaphone 3 includes over 1,000 presets, combining a new 420-sound factory library created by leading sound designers with a remastered collection of 676 sounds from Chromaphone 2. The updated sounds feature improved gain staging, enhanced dynamics, and optimized real-time modulation assignments.

The updated version also introduces a new Home view interface, designed for quick sound browsing and editing. Four performance macros per layer allow users to control modulation, timbre, envelopes, and effects using MIDI assignments for expressive real-time performance.

Additional improvements include a redesigned preset browser, support for Scala microtonal tuning files, and an expanded multi-effects module with reverb, EQ, compressor, tremolo, and guitar amplifier processors.

Chromaphone 3 remains compatible with Chromaphone 2 sound banks, allowing existing users to convert older libraries easily.

The 50% promotion brings the instrument to $99 until March 22, offering producers a cost-effective way to explore advanced physical modeling synthesis.
