Bebe Rexha reworks Faithless classic ‘Insomnia’ on new single ‘New Religion’: Listen
Bebe Rexha has tapped into one of electronic music’s most iconic records, reworking Faithless’ timeless ‘Insomnia’ into her new single ‘New Religion’.
The track reinterprets the original’s unmistakable melody while incorporating parts of Maxi Jazz’s legendary line, “I can’t get no sleep,” giving the record a familiar yet updated identity. Rather than positioning Faithless as a sample or feature, the group receives full contributor credit alongside Rexha — a detail that reflects the significance of the original work.
At the same time, the official visual leans into nostalgia. It blends fragments of the original ‘Insomnia’ video with new club-focused scenes, creating a bridge between eras while keeping the track rooted in today’s dancefloor context.
Speaking about the release, Rexha shared:
“‘New Religion’ is really my salvation on the dance floor. It’s about letting go and getting lost in the music… I wanted to write a love letter to music itself.”
Notably, the rework arrives shortly after ‘Insomnia’ marked 30 years, with Sister Bliss and Rollo Armstrong celebrating the milestone through anniversary releases and live shows. In recent months, the track has also seen renewed attention through reinterpretations from artists like Disclosure and Tomorrowland’s Symphony of Unity.
‘New Religion’ continues that legacy, bringing one of dance music’s most enduring records into a new generation.
