King Charles tries DJing during visit to Manchester creative hub: Watch

King Charles stepped into the world of DJing during a visit to Manchester, as he spent time with young creatives at Aviva Studios, home to Factory International.

During the visit, Christian St Louis, a 22-year-old aspiring DJ from Greater Manchester, invited the King to try mixing on a professional setup. As he guided him through the basics, he explained how to load and play tracks, noting that while the equipment looks complex, it becomes intuitive with practice.

The King appeared relaxed and engaged, even moving slightly to the music as he explored the controls, drawing smiles from those watching.

Beyond the light-hearted moment, the visit focused on supporting young people entering creative industries. Charles met participants involved in programmes backed by The King’s Trust, which continues to provide opportunities in music, arts, and media.

Notably, the Trust partnered with the Elba Hope Foundation, founded by Idris Elba, to launch Creative Futures, an initiative designed to equip young people with practical skills and confidence to pursue careers in creative fields. So far, the programme has supported more than 100 participants in Manchester and continues to expand across the UK.

Following his time at Aviva Studios, the King also visited local sustainability projects, highlighting broader efforts around creativity, education, and innovation.

While brief, King Charles’ moment behind the decks offered a different perspective, showing how music and culture continue to connect across generations.
