Plugin Alliance Deal: Unfiltered Audio LION Drops to $40

The experimental software synthesizer Unfiltered Audio LION is currently available for $40, down from $104, as part of a 61% discount running until March 31 on Plugin Alliance.

Developed by Unfiltered Audio, LION is designed as a highly flexible modular-style synthesizer built for both traditional sound design and experimental synthesis. The instrument combines multiple synthesis approaches within a single architecture, allowing producers to create everything from classic analog-style tones to complex digital textures.

Dual Oscillators with 26 Synthesis Modes

At the core of LION is a dual-oscillator architecture, with each oscillator offering 26 synthesis modes. These modes include FM synthesis, subtractive waveforms, additive shapes, supersaw-style stacks, microsound generators, and noise-based sources.

Each oscillator can also operate in stereo mode, allowing for wider sound design possibilities. Additional controls such as unison modulation and oscillator drift help recreate the subtle instability associated with analog hardware synths.

Experimental Oscillator Mixing

LION introduces several unique ways to combine its oscillators. While the standard Linear XFade mode works like a traditional crossfader, the plugin also includes more experimental algorithms such as Min-Max, Ring Mod, Compare, Terrain, Bitter, and Ash.

These mixing modes create unconventional relationships between oscillator signals, enabling users to generate unusual timbres and evolving textures.

Flexible Filters and Effects

The synthesizer includes 16 filter shapes, covering standard low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass designs alongside more creative filtering options.

LION also integrates the effects engine from BYOME, providing access to over 40 built-in effects. These effects can be chained together and modulated to build complex signal processing paths directly within the synth.

Advanced Modulation and MPE Support

LION features Unfiltered Audio’s advanced modulation system, allowing nearly every parameter to be controlled by envelopes, LFOs, MIDI input, and other modulation sources.

The synth also includes full MPE support, enabling expressive performance with controllers such as the ROLI Seaboard and Sensel Morph.

A built-in randomization engine makes it possible to subtly evolve existing presets or generate entirely new patches with a single click. The instrument ships with more than 600 factory presets covering a wide range of genres and sound design styles.

With its combination of flexible synthesis engines, modular effects, and deep modulation capabilities, Unfiltered Audio LION offers a powerful platform for modern sound design.
