Solid State Logic’s SSL Blitzer Drops to $39 in Limited-Time Deal

British audio manufacturer Solid State Logic is offering its SSL Blitzer compressor plugin for $39, down from $99, representing a 60% discount available until March 23.

Designed as a versatile character compressor, SSL Blitzer draws inspiration from classic analog hardware including the UREI 1176 and Teletronix LA-2A, delivering a range of dynamics processing styles from subtle saturation and musical compression to aggressive limiting.

Multiple Compression Characters in One Plugin

Blitzer features 10 unique compression curves across 10 ratios, each offering its own response and tonal behavior. This allows producers to emulate the characteristics of tube, VCA, and optical compressors from a single interface.

The plugin can operate across a wide range of applications—from gentle dynamic control and analog-style warmth to punchy drum compression and brick-wall limiting.

Drive and Transient Shaping Controls

To further shape the tone of a signal, Blitzer includes a Drive control that introduces vintage-style harmonic saturation. This can be used to add subtle warmth or heavier coloration depending on the material.

A Transients control allows users to reintroduce or soften attack characteristics after compression, giving producers more control over how punchy or smooth a signal feels in the mix.

Parallel Compression and “BLITZ!” Mode

The plugin also includes a Mix control for parallel compression, enabling users to blend the compressed signal with the original track for additional punch and energy.

For more aggressive dynamics processing, Blitzer’s “BLITZ!” mode recreates the classic “all-buttons-in” compression style, often used on drum room microphones to create explosive, highly compressed textures.

Advanced Sidechain and Workflow Tools

Blitzer includes a sidechain high-pass filter (HPF) that prevents low-frequency energy from triggering the compressor—particularly useful when processing drum buses or bass-heavy sources.

A sidechain bell filter is also available to help control harsh frequencies or tame problematic vocal peaks.

Additional workflow tools include auto gain compensation, A/B preset comparison, and undo/redo functionality, along with SSL’s built-in contextual help system.
