Spotify Introduces SongDNA for Song Credits and Discovery

Spotify is rolling out a new feature called SongDNA, a beta tool that surfaces the collaborators, samples, and creative connections behind individual tracks, as the company continues to expand how users discover music.

The feature is now available to Premium users globally and appears directly within the Now Playing screen on mobile. From there, listeners can tap into a SongDNA card to view detailed credits, including writers, producers, and engineers, alongside samples, interpolations, and cover versions tied to a track.

SongDNA is designed to function less like a static credits panel and more like a navigation layer. Users can move between contributors and related works, effectively mapping how songs connect across artists, genres, and time.

The launch builds on a series of recent updates from Spotify aimed at adding more context to music. In recent months, the company has expanded its Song Credits feature to include a broader range of contributors and introduced “About the Song,” a separate beta tool that provides background and trivia about tracks.

SongDNA also reflects Spotify’s deeper investment in metadata and attribution. Following its acquisition of the sampling database WhoSampled in 2025, the platform has been working to integrate more detailed information about how songs are built, including samples and influences.

Early reactions to the feature suggest it could significantly change how users interact with music. Some beta users have described SongDNA as one of Spotify’s most compelling additions in recent years, pointing to its ability to turn listening into a more exploratory experience.

SongDNA is currently in beta on iOS and Android, with a broader rollout to all Premium users expected in the coming weeks.
