Technics unveils limited SL-1200 turntable with Aimé Leon Dore
Technics has introduced a new limited-edition version of its iconic SL-1200 turntable, this time in collaboration with New York-based brand Aimé Leon Dore.
The SL-1200M7ALD takes cues directly from ALD’s visual identity. Finished in a distinctive mulberry green, the turntable features subtle co-branded elements and arrives with a custom slip mat, giving the classic design a more lifestyle-oriented edge without straying from its roots.
At its core, however, the unit remains unmistakably Technics. It retains the signature S-shaped aluminium tonearm, along with the brand’s well-known vibration-dampening platter, ensuring that performance stays in line with what DJs and collectors expect from the SL-1200 series.
For Teddy Santis, founder and creative director of Aimé Leon Dore, the collaboration feels personal.
“I still buy records today, and I still have Technics turntables in my house, my office, and in our stores,” he said. “Beyond the emotional connection, I’m in love with the object itself.”
Notably, the release reflects a wider shift where vinyl culture continues to intersect with fashion and design. Rather than reinventing the turntable, this collaboration reframes it, positioning a long-standing piece of DJ hardware within a more contemporary cultural context.
