Home Tech Technics launches the SL-1500CS turntable with Drive technology

Technics has unveiled the SL-1500CS, an upgraded version of its award-winning SL-1500C turntable. The key addition is the brand’s proprietary ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) Drive technology, previously found only in higher-end models.

What is the Technics ΔΣ-Drive technology?

The ΔΣ-Drive technology focuses on reducing motor vibration and improving rotational accuracy. By refining the sine wave signal that powers the motor, the system minimizes vibration to near immeasurable levels. This, combined with the direct drive motor, results in smoother rotation and less wear and tear.

SL-1500CS: Design and Features

The SL-1500CS has a design similar to the SL-1500C. It features an aluminum chassis with ABS and glass fiber to help reduce vibrations. The S-shaped aluminum tonearm uses high-precision bearings to track the record grooves accurately and deliver stable playback. Further, the turntable includes a built-in equalizer compatible with MM cartridges. It also comes with automatic tonearm lift. This raises the arm at the end of a record to prevent unnecessary wear.

What have Technics said?

In a statement, the company said, “The ΔΣ-Drive technology, taking sophisticated signal processing techniques used in our full-digital Technics amplifiers, is all about eliminating motor vibrations down to the very limits of measurable. Therefore, especially lighter turntable platforms, using lighter platter constructions, benefit greatly from the vibration elimination of the ΔΣ-Drive. Through this, the new SL-1500CS achieves sonic performance levels far beyond the perceived standards of its class”,

Featuring a metallic grey finish and eco-friendly packaging, the Technics SL-1500CS will be available from March 2026.
