Wasserman agency rebrands as “The Team” amid sale process and industry fallout
Major sports and entertainment agency Wasserman has officially rebranded as “The Team,” marking a significant shift for one of the most influential talent representation firms in music, sports and entertainment. The name change arrives while the company explores a potential sale and leadership transition following controversy surrounding founder Casey Wasserman.
The agency confirmed the rebrand in a statement, emphasizing that the organization’s mission and client representation will remain unchanged despite the new identity. “While our dedication to the service of our clients remains unchanged, we have a new name,” the company said while introducing the new brand to partners and industry collaborators.
Founded by Casey Wasserman, the Los Angeles–based company has grown into a global powerhouse representing athletes, musicians and entertainers. The agency has expanded rapidly over the past two decades through acquisitions and partnerships, including the Paradigm Talent Agency’s North American music division in 2021.
The firm’s roster spans some of the world’s biggest artists and performers, with clients across sports, marketing and music. The music division alone represents a long list of major acts including Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Skrillex, Fred again.. and Calvin Harris, highlighting the agency’s significant influence within the live music industry.
The rebrand comes during a turbulent period for the agency. Earlier this year, revelations from the Epstein files connected Casey Wasserman to historical email exchanges with Ghislaine Maxwell, sparking criticism from artists and industry figures.
In response to the backlash, Wasserman announced plans to sell his stake in the company and step back from daily operations, with senior executive Mike Watts overseeing the business during the transition period.
Several artists such as Above & Beyond, ODESZA, REZZ, Subtronics, Seven Lions also distanced themselves from the agency following the controversy, increasing pressure on leadership to restructure the organization.
The transition to The Team signals an attempt to reset the agency’s identity while maintaining its core operations. The company stressed that the rebrand reflects a renewed focus on collaboration across sports, music and entertainment representation.
As the sale process continues, industry observers will closely watch how the agency’s roster and leadership evolve. Despite the turbulence, The Team remains one of the most powerful agencies in the global entertainment ecosystem, representing talent across major festivals, tours and sports leagues worldwide.
