An AI-generated song has climbed to the top of the US and global iTunes charts. ‘Celebrate Me’ by IngaRose, a synthetic R&B performer who does not exist in real life, reached number one on April 17. Notably, Suno, the generative AI music platform that has powered several viral moments in recent months, created the track.

Crucially, the song went viral on TikTok before hitting the top of the chart. Myers Music released it on March 31, and it climbed steadily through early April. In turn, the rapid rise signals a shift in how AI content competes with human artists on commercial platforms. The track now sits alongside major-label pop releases in the iTunes rankings.

IngaRose is not a real person. Instead, the project operates as a fully AI-constructed artist persona, with an Apple Music artist page, dozens of videos on YouTube, and a growing 228,000 Instagram followers. Additionally, her feed mirrors the aesthetic of a traditional pop artist rollout. Meanwhile, listeners who streamed the track on platforms like Spotify reportedly had no idea the performer was not real.

The moment raises pressing questions for the music industry. Indeed, platforms like iTunes and Apple Music currently have no clear policy separating AI-generated music from human-made releases. Still, AI tools like Suno, Udio, and others continue to grow. Industry bodies are scrambling to respond. For now, the IngaRose breakthrough shows how fast the landscape is shifting, and how urgently the industry needs a clear framework for AI-generated music going forward this year.
