A man was spotted climbing the Sphere in Las Vegas
An unidentified climber scaled the curved exterior of the Las Vegas Sphere on April 14 during filming for ‘From the Edge’. The moment played out in full view of Strip traffic. Indeed, a tourist captured the sky-high stunt from a nearby hotel window, and the clip quickly made the rounds online.
‘From the Edge’ is an upcoming Sphere production from Academy Award winners E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, the duo behind ‘Free Solo’. Crucially, the project follows five elite athletes across their respective disciplines. The roster features climber Alex Honnold, free diver Alenka Artnik, skier Markus Eder, BASE jumper Katie Hansen Lajeunesse, and surfer Kai Lenny. Meanwhile, filming has travelled through Jordan, Dubai, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Austin, and Maui.
Notably, Sphere Entertainment is shooting the project with Big Sky, its proprietary camera system. As a result, every scene lands at the scale required for the venue’s 16K interior display. The Las Vegas day added the Sphere itself to the shot list. In turn, the stunt doubles as a preview of the production’s ambition.
For the dance music community, the Sphere has quickly become a landmark stage. Recently, ILLENIUM delivered his ODYSSEY run at the venue. Furthermore, Anyma presented ‘The End of Genesys’ there earlier. Still, Tomorrowland and Insomniac pushed things further with their joint ‘Unity’ event. The venue’s electronic calendar keeps growing each season. ‘From the Edge’ is set to debut at the Sphere in 2026. Indeed, the filming offers a preview of how the venue keeps pushing its content format well beyond music.
