Axwell delivers nostalgic Swedish House Mafia set at Tomorrowland Winter 2026: Relive
High above the French Alps, Axwell delivered one of the most nostalgic and energetic performances of Tomorrowland Winter 2026, guiding fans through a journey packed with Swedish House Mafia classics, progressive house anthems, and signature mashups.
Taking place between March 21 and 28 in Alpe d’Huez, the festival once again transformed the iconic ski resort into a global meeting point for dance music fans. More than 22,000 People of Tomorrow explored stages across the slopes, moving between mountain performances, après-ski sessions, and late-night sets from over 150 international artists. Within that setting, Axwell’s performance leaned heavily into the golden era of progressive house, celebrating the legacy that helped define festival main stages throughout the last decade.
Swedish House Mafia anthems dominate the performance
Axwell opened with a high-energy mashup combining ‘Feedback’ by Hard Rock Sofa & Swanky Tunes, ‘Glimma’ by Pryda, and an Alesso bootleg, immediately setting the tone for a set filled with layered edits and mashups.
Throughout the performance, he revisited defining records from the Swedish House Mafia catalog, including ‘Antidote’, ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’, ‘Omen’, ‘Lioness’, ‘Ray Of Solar’, and ‘Wait So Long (Why Do I Have To)’. Signature mashups played a central role in the set, including a powerful moment combining ‘Resurrection’, ‘Walking On A Dream’, and ‘Empire Of The Sun’, as well as a layered blend of ‘Love Inc’, ‘In My Mind’, and ‘Dreamer’. Elsewhere, Axwell mixed festival staples such as ‘More Than You Know’, ‘Flash’, ‘Barricade’, and ‘Whatever Turns You On’, reinforcing the melodic progressive energy that defined his sound.
Emotional closers and timeless festival moments
As the performance progressed, Axwell continued to blend progressive house classics with emotional moments. A standout section featured Hans Zimmer’s ‘Cornfield Chase’, adding a cinematic touch before transitioning into ‘Don’t You Worry Child’, one of the most iconic tracks in modern dance music. The set continued with ‘Heaven Takes You Home’ before reaching another emotional highlight with ‘One (Your Name)’, a record that helped define the rise of Swedish House Mafia worldwide. Closing with ‘Wait So Long (Why Do I Have To)’, Axwell’s performance served as a celebration of the sound that helped shape an entire generation of festival culture.
Against the snowy backdrop of Tomorrowland Winter, the set felt both nostalgic and timeless, reminding fans why Axwell remains one of progressive house’s most influential figures.
